You know that view is going to stay with you the second you walk through the arch. The ocean opens up in front of you, wide and blue, and for a moment you just stop — everyone does. Canggu isn’t the quiet side of Bali — it’s buzzing, full of life, with waves rolling in all day and a beach that never really sleeps. That’s exactly what made it the right call for us. Close enough to the airport that you’re not losing half a travel day, easy for the whole family, and with enough energy to feel like a proper holiday rather than a retreat. If you want relaxed but not remote, and you want the kids to have as good a time as you do, this is where you go.

Of course, if you want to explore, Canggu has plenty of excursions on offer. But what we loved most was that we didn’t need to go far for the best moment of our stay. One afternoon we simply walked straight out of the hotel along the beach, and a few minutes later found ourselves at a small temple perched right on the rocks — no car, no plan, just sand under our feet the whole way. My daughter in her floral dress, wandering ahead of us up the old stone steps, the temple rising against a sky doing its best impression of a painting.
What sold us on COMO Uma wasn’t just the view, though. It’s a hotel where you genuinely don’t have to leave to have a full holiday. There’s a proper kids’ club that our children loved. They made friends, did activities, came back buzzing every single time, which meant real time for us too. The food across the property was consistently good, from the beach club to breakfast overlooking the ocean. And for the adults, there’s a full gym, yoga, and breathwork sessions right on site — we booked one and it turned out to be one of our favourite mornings of the whole trip.
